Is This The End For Fluffy Favourites?
Fluffy Favourites from Eyecon Games has been a staple of the slots roster at many a bingo and casino brand. The simplistic 5 reel, 25 payline slot has always been popular but could it’s days be numbered. The online gambling industry has been in the spotlight recently as bonus legislation changes are being made, brands are being fined for breaching terms, affiliate programs are being closed and advertising being scrutinised.
The most recent scrutinisation has come from The UK Gambling Commission who has expressed concern regarding “freely accessible ads on gambling operator websites, which feature images that are likely to appeal to U18s”. They have written to casino operators and demanded that ads that may appeal to U18s are removed. It cites that games such as “Piggy Payout”, “Fluffy Favourites”, “Pirate Princess” and “Jack and the Beanstalk” are likely to appeal to U18s.
Register For Free Demo Play
In terms of advertising we think that this is fair comment. Bingo and slot advertisements should not be designed to appeal to U18s and nor should they be targeted at U18s. U18s also shouldn’t be able to access free play on any of these games – although in our view if IP and parental controls are set up correctly then they’d not be able to access casino/slot/bingo content. We fully expect that all operators will now put demo play behind closed doors!
However, will a clamp down on advertising and accessible free games be the end of the matter?
A lot of new slots take themes from popular movies and TV programs. Top Cat, Family Guy, Batman and Superman are just some of the names that have lent themselves to slots. In addition you have brands such as Aladdin Slots which utilise a name more associated with a children’s movie. Throw in to the mix that a lot of slots have cartoon themes – Jin’s Jumping Wilds from Jackpotjoy is very cartoon orientated – and there’s a huge bundle of worms waiting to emerge from this can.
Back To The Old Fruit Machines
Whilst we fully support the need for responsible gambling and bringing everything into line, there’s a possibility that the whole industry could be squeezed. The changes in advertising could well be followed by what can be mentioned on affiliate sites (e.g can we review Fluffy Favourites). This could then be followed by operator’s being forbidden to show any slots on their homepages – just in case an U18 stumbles across them. Maybe The UKGC will eventually ask Google to ban bingo, slots and casino from search results?
Could we actually reach the point where Fluffy Favourites is banned and slot themes can only be like the old days of plums, cherries, bars, sevens and X’s?
It’s not impossible the way things are going but hopefully common sense will prevail. We’re not big fans of Fluffy Favourites, but it’d be a shame to see the game vanish from our screens – and if Fluffy goes then a lot of other games would also follow suit.
